Teamworks Students Present @ NARI Conference
Thursday, October 7, 2010
NF Woods SkillsUSA members Justin Crabtree and Adam Sylvester, along with their advisor Tommy Chester, spoke to the entire National Association of the Remodeling Industry delegation at their national conference held in Charlotte Oct. 7-8. NARI is a national sponsor of the Teamworks contest. Crabtree, Sylvester, and Chester gave a presentation to the delegation about their experiences in preparing for and competing in the SkillsUSA Teamworks competition at the state and national level. The trio did an outstanding job conveying the challenges that they faced in blending the four different people with four different sets of skills together to make a complete team. They also discussed the great rewards that the received from learning how to perform tasks from other trade areas to getting to travel to Kansas CIty, MO. Mr. Chester discussed the importance of industry and community involvement in being able to properly prepare a team for competition and urged NARI members to get involved. NARI members were both inspired and energized by the presentation that our members made. Several NARI members committed to getting involved with SkillsUSA chapters in their states and were hungry to find ways in which they could work with students of the caliber of Crabtree and Sylvester. For the remainder of the conference, those in attendance continued to reference the professionalism and skill displayed by our NF Woods members. SkillsUSA North Carolina is truly proud of our students and advisors who represent our organization so well.
