SkillsUSA North Carolina has partnered with the ApprenticeshipNC and the North Carolina State Fair to provide some excellent competitive event opportunities and opportunities for your students to explore CTE and potential career paths in an educational trip to the North Carolina State Fair. Please see the dates and activity descriptions below and consider registering your students to participate or bringing a class for a field trip to the State Fair.

October 26 - Cosmetology Competitions
There will be three cosmetology competitions offered this year for our North Carolina Cosmetology programs. These contests are open to all North Carolina Cosmetology Students (high school and college). There will be cash prizes given out to the winners of each contest, along with other great prizes. Competitors also get free admission to the Fair. Full details for each contest are listed below.
Cost: $20 per contestant (No cost for Total Look Models, but please register!)

CONTEST INFORMATION :
Total Look (Fantasy Hair & Make-Up) Rules - Theme: "Wizard of Oz"
Total Style Rules ** NEW THIS YEAR ** - Manikin Styling performed in advance and brought to the state fair for judging. Participants MAY enter the TOTAL STYLE Competition AND the TOTAL LOOK or TOTAL EVENING ELEGANCE if desired, but will need to register for each competition and will be responsible for the $20 registration fee for each. October 27 - Robotics Competitions
The Robotics & Pre-Engineering Contest at the State Fair is open to any high school or middle school in the state. Students will work together in teams of 2 will compete against other teams to accomplish tasks on the challenge field in the fastest and most efficient time. Competitors and instructors will get free admission to the fair and schools are encouraged to bring other students as a field trip if they wish.
